Who we are

A studio built by players, for players.

We opened on Mary Street in 2016 with six PCs and one CRT monitor. Today OldBattleCore runs a 40-seat arena, a dedicated coaching floor, and a workshop that builds and services rigs for Sydney's competitive scene. Every coach on our roster has played at a tier-2 level or higher.

Ex-national league IGL. Runs our Valorant and CS2 review labs, breaking down VODs frame by frame with players at every rank.

How it works

Four steps from queue anxiety to consistent wins.

Our program is built around measurable improvement — not vibes. Here is what a season with OldBattleCore looks like.

01

Baseline assessment

A 90-minute session on our practice floor where we track your aim, movement, and decision-making, then map your current ceiling against your goal rank.

90 min · from $75 AUD

Baseline assessment
02

Personal training block

Weekly one-on-one coaching plus a structured drill plan you run at home. We adjust routines every fortnight based on tracked stats.

6 weeks · from $540 AUD

03

Scrim & VOD review

Play supervised scrims in the arena, then sit down for a frame-by-frame VOD review with your coach to lock in the habits that stick.

Case studies

Real players, measurable jumps.

A few of the seasons we're proudest of from the last two years on the practice floor.

Valorant · 5-stack

Silver → Ascendant in 11 weeks

Team Harbourline

The fortnightly stat reviews were brutal in the best way. We finally knew exactly what to practise instead of just grinding ranked.

CS2 · Solo

Placed top 8 at the winter open

Kai T.

I came in stuck in Gold for two years. Mara rebuilt my crosshair placement from scratch and it just clicked.

Overwatch 2 · 6-stack

First LAN trophy after 3 attempts

The Off-Meta Crew

Jonno's tournament prep took all the nerves out of it. We knew the schedule, the setup, everything — we just played.

Apex Legends · Solo

Signed to a tier-2 academy roster

Sana M.

The custom rig alone cut my input lag noticeably. Pair that with the movement bootcamp and scouts started messaging me.

Word on the floor

Players don't stay quiet about their climb.

Six weeks in the training block did more for my consistency than two years of solo queue. The drills actually target your weak spots.

The workshop built me a silent rig that runs my sim at a locked frame rate. Dev talked me out of the parts I didn't need — rare honesty.

Friday LAN nights are the best value gaming in the city. Fair brackets, good people, and you actually learn something losing.

Questions

Everything before your first session.

Not at all. Around half our players walk in below the average rank for their game. The baseline assessment exists precisely so we can meet you where you are and build a plan that fits your current skill and goals.

Absolutely. Every station takes your own mouse, keyboard, and headset, and we keep spare cables and adapters on the bench. If you're between gear, the workshop can lend you a tournament-grade setup for the session.

A standard six-week one-on-one block starts at $540 AUD and includes weekly coaching, a home drill plan, and supervised scrim time. We'll confirm the exact figure after your baseline assessment so there are no surprises.

The arena is open Monday to Thursday 12pm–10pm, Friday and Saturday 10am–midnight for LAN nights, and Sunday 12pm–8pm. The workshop takes bookings any day the arena is open.

Yes. Our Sunday ladder nights are casual, coached, and capped so newer players aren't thrown against veterans. It's the most relaxed way to try competitive play before committing to a training block.
